Be Fair
Many of us do not understand the negative power of being treated unfairly. It does not matter how much money a person make or how much seniority a person may have. It does not matter where you live or where you do business. Very few things in life matter as much as being treated fairly. You can make $30.00 an hour but if someone that makes $10.00 an hour is being treated more fair than you, get ready for trouble. At some level we all are being treated unfair. Do you think the price of gas is fair? I am not surprised by what is happening in the world today. When you make someone work for pennies while others make millions, when you create a law and then tell others they cannot vote on that law, when you charge people large amounts of money for things that are cheap to make, get ready for trouble. It may take one day or it may take a hundred years but sooner or later the person or people that are being treated unfairly will rise up and protest. Whether it is unfair or perceived to be unfair the results will be the same. Some people may use violence. They march or protest in the street. Others use violence on themselves. Being treated unfair or harassed on your job may lead to depression, which then may lead to drug use or drinking. When some are the victim of a bully they harm themselves or become afraid to be involved with normal social activities. You have heard sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. That is very untrue. Words can help you but words can also hurt you very much. Words have started wars. Words have ruined families. Let me share something with you that may change your life. We know the rich man treated Lazarus very unfair making him eat the crumbs that fell from his table. But why did he want a drop of water to cool his tongue? Have you heard these words before? They were in a heated argument. They had heated words over the contract. They were in a heated dispute over the settlement. The rich man had heated words for Lazarus and people like him. He treated and talked to him very heated, very hateful. That is why he needed that drop of water. To cool his hateful tongue, not his eyes, or his ears his hateful heated tongue needed to be cool down. If you knew the name of the rich man in this parable and who his five brothers were it would be clear. Words hurt. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Be fair to everyone. Do not let position or money make you use heated words and put yourself in a place of torment. Be good to others and he will be very good to you.
